EdTech Profile Comparison

Hi Class 422~
After completing my baseline assessment in the beginning of this 422 course I discovered I had “Intermediate” technological skill proficiency at best when it came to my computer knowledge, understanding and applying technology into the classroom, and using technology to support student learning.  Now I feel I have gained an abundant amount of digital-age tools and resources that will promote facilitation and inspiration in my students.  Although I scored “Proficient” during the second assessment, I am well aware that I need to maintain enrichment to the shifts in technological progressions.  Technology continues to grow and produce new ideas and innovations in education that will keep me and other educators “on our toes”.
According to the EdTech assessment I showed improvement in all areas, with little deviation within the three categories. Though, once again I must say, I will need to stay well-informed to retain this knowledge.  Where the comparison chart indicated that I made the greatest gain was in “Using Technology in the Classroom”.  For me this builds confidence in that I tend to be focused, systematic, and analytical sometimes exemplifying a tunnel vision. To know that I can apply and model digital –age work in the classroom helps me to think I can increase my multitask abilities and produce these learning experiences in my students.
What I liked best about this class was that it really helped me to think “outside the box” and provided me with an abundant amount of critical and connective educational Web 2.0 resources.  I now have exciting and inspiring ways to engage learning and creativity in my students.  Furthermore, this course provided me with a foundation to proper ethics and digital citizenship as well as providing knowledge to the ISTE Nets.
What I felt from the beginning was that the class was preparing us for professional growth and to become pedagogical educators and that I must learn to navigate through the Moodle site and all of its perplexing directives.  I felt it did.  So, although at times it was unclear as to what assignment comes next, I felt I learned from this process and it did acclimate me to what I will face as an educator when learning how to navigate and use technology in the classroom.
Thank you,
Thomas
